Marie Antoinette: 1755-1793
Queen of France, the wife of Louis XVI. Met her end during the French Revolution at the guillotine, having been convicted of treason.
She led a fairly fascinating life. She was never supposed to be married to a future king, but was the only option when a smallpox outbreak hit the Austrian royal family. She was only 12 when it was decided she would marry Louis XVI. She was the victim of vicious rumors and throughout her life, and it can be said that these contributed in the public turning against her and ultimately her downfall.
I had to pick a historical person to draw for my comparitive study, illustration. I had already painted Napoleon for a project in that class last semester (I really need to put that painting up! It was fairly good, if I don't say so myself), so I chose another one of my favorite historical figures.
Basically, for the project I had to take pre existing images, re-draw them in my own style and compile them into a composite image. So the drawing was done on tracing paper in fine liner, scanned, and coloured on photoshop.
It's not perfect, I was in a hurry, but I'm actually happy with it.
